John Lennon's guitar sold for $2.4M at auction!

Andy Babiuk with Floating Guitar and Lennon's Gibson.

Prestigious American auction house Julien’s Auctions, is putting John Lennon’s Gibson J-160E guitar up for auction, and will display it on the Floating Guitar support during the Icons & Idols Rock n' Roll Auction taking place on 7 November in Beverly Hills, California.

Floating Guitar support has been selected to exhibit Lennon’s guitar thanks to its design and functionality. This support is available in two different versions (wall or stand), and has been especially designed to retain and increase the value of guitars by transforming them into unique items or works of art.
Floating Guitar is totally unique due to its sheer versatility and the fact that it is invisible, allowing the guitar to remain the central focal point.

Press release after the auction. Guitar was sold for $2.4 Millions.

It is available on an extensive range of models, for electric guitars (such as Stratocaster, Les Paul and SG types) and for acoustic guitars, archtops and classic guitars (official launch at the Namm Show 2016).

John Lennon bought his guitar at a shop in Liverpool, the city where he played and recorded legendary songs such as Love me do. In 1963, his guitar disappeared and remained a mystery for over 50 years, until John McCaw bought it at a shop in the United States.
Finally, Julien’s Auctions is to put it up for auction, having had it certified by Andy Babiuk, expert in historic instruments and consultant to the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame.
Considered one of the most iconic guitars in the history of The Beatles, the guitar will be auctioned this Saturday at a starting price of $600,000. It is estimated that it could end up selling for around $800,000.

Lennon’s guitar is being displayed all of this week on the Floating Guitar stand at Julien’s Auction in Beverly Hills.
The exhibition is open to the general public allowing fans and collectors to enjoy these valuable, legendary items first-hand.
